Great new website. We’ll all learn that blogging is painless… and fun! I hope to find some stories about Vi and Dick that will expand my knowledge of their life together.
I agree, this is a great site! We will have to figure out how to upload pictures, etc. Also, can we put up all of the genealogy so we can add to it as events dictate?

Marty this is wonderful. I’ve yet to explore and see all possibilities but the whole look of it with the Charles and Anna Magnuson prints at the top is terrific. It was so good to meet you at the reunion and for you to come with your mom. I feel I’m just getting to know Diane and love that you came along with her to Boulder. I think we all feel a closeness to our extended family that was missing before this latest get together. Thank you, Thank you.
This blog is going to be great I think! I am going to try and post a picture of Jason & Erin I took last night next to their rental truck. They pulled out of Ventura at 7:05am this morning on their way to Vancouver, British Columbia. If you notice, their Vancouver address show in the picture near the front tire of the truck!

This is my first blogging experience.Looks like a great way to keep our great family in touch.Nothing will be able to replace the charm of the “Round Robin” and hand written letters, but I think this whole internet thing may just catch on.
We have another correction to the family genealogy. Be sure to correct in your book and on the CD if you have one. Bob Gray’s birthday is January 7, 1945 (not February).

I wanted to mention something about the picture of the house on Wentworth Ave. in Chicago. You can find the photo of it in the genealogy binder under the section called Charles Magnuson. When Kevin and I were living in Chicago, (I think that was 1987/88), my mom and dad came to visit. I decided that we should try to find the house on Wentworth. I think Kevin was working that day, so I was driving. We found the neighborhood but we never found the exact address. Wentworth was a nice tree lined street, but I could tell my dad was nervous about being in the neighborhood…maybe he watched a few too many movies about guys in the hood. There were some guys around, but the houses were tidy. Anyway, there was an expressway bordering the neighborhood and as best I could tell, the house was probably removed to make way for that.
I think you are right, Steph! I remember we tried to find it too one time we were in Chicago. It was the year we went to New York City for the l00th year of the Statue of Liberty Celebration and I thought too the house was taken out to make way for the overhead expressway. Of course, the original house may not have been there either.
I want to say something about Bonnie, and I can’t quite figure out where to put it but guess this is as good a place as any.
We talked about Jean and how she could do anything — well, Bonnie had that gene too and she came first! But anything she tried her hand at always came out A-OK. She could cook and she could sew better than anyone. But I remember one time when I was a kid, we had a terrible snow storm and when that happened, everything stopped and especially traffic! Our teacher in our rural school was Fred Vipperman at the time and of course he was snowed in at school and couldn’t get home. So along in the evening, here he came in his car trying to plow a way into our yard. I think Dad & Paul with shovels, finally got him in. But Mom hadn’t planned to keep the teacher that year and she thought she had got the word to him that the neighbors to the east would keep him. Well, apparently he didn’t want to stay there — hence, he came to our house. We had a full house at the time, as Bonnie was there too — waiting for Ralph to send the money for train-fare so she could go to Idaho and they could be married! Fred must have been there awhile as I know Mom washed his clothes and Bonnie ironed his shirts. Well, Fred was so appreciative of his ironed shirts and he wasn’t bashful about telling her so. That was quite a complement as his Mother took in ironing and she was reputed to be the “”best”. I know she ironed the linen dresses that the 8th grade teacher in Chapman wore to school and they always looked top-notch! I remember that Mom ran out of sugar while Fred was with us so one Saturday morning he put on the snow ski’s that Dad had made and went over to Frank Klepetco’s place which was just down the road a bit and quite a bit farther up his lane to the house. When he came back sometime later, he had a 10# sack of sugar that he got from Frank so we didn’t have to do without baked goods at our house. Fred was my 7th grade teacher and he and his sisters had gone to High School in Chapman with Helen, Vi and Bonnie. We had other teachers stay with us during the winter too and they were all good experiences.
I have to report that on Friday, the 21st of December Ev Magnuson, Nancy Slattery, Barbara Ogden, Pam Ogden and Jackie Sampson enjoyed lunch out in Grand Island. It was really fun to be together and enjoy a pre-Christmas outing. We even saw Steve as he was coming home from work as we dropped Ev and Nancy off. It was a beautiful, sunny day (contrary to a lot of cold and snow we’ve had here in Nebraska). It was a bonus to have Nancy here as she and John were to be in Lincoln with some of John’s family. Wish I had a picture to share, but you’ll just have to imagine that. Here’s hoping you all have a wonderful Christmas and that we get a report from all the families as to what is going on in their lives. Since we (the Sampson’s ) were together for Thanksgiving, we will not be together for Christmas. Bob and Jenn will be in New Jersey with her family, Dave, Paulette and children will be in Wisconsin and have Paulette’s family to celebrate with. Joe is to be in New York City with friends. Rick and Katie will be with her parents in North Carolina. Sarah and Jack will be in KC with their mom. Later in the Christmas break they will be again visiting in Tampa. Busy, busy times.

Jackie, you have inspired me to put up a Christmas post in hopes that everyone will comment and share their holiday happenings. Everybody, look at the top of “Recent Posts” in the right-hand column, and tell us about the holidays at your house!
Nothing earth shaking happened here Christmas Day. Lora & Scott and girls went to Omaha, I think last Friday, to spend Christmas with the Norlen family. On Tuesday afternoon, their family drove to Lincoln to be with the Hickey family for Christmas Eve and Rich & Pam were there too. R & P came home that night though — Hopefully Pam & Lora will tell you about that. Then on Christmas Day, R & P and Loren & I went to Bosselmans in G.I. for dinner. I’d like to know how many people they served that day as there was a huge crowd. Bosselmans have re-done all their services and it was the first time Loren & I had been there since. They have several big dining areas but the bottom line was that the food was very good — and the best part was we didn’t have to cook it! However, the main Christmas deal for the Ogden family will happen Saturday night when we all converge on Rich & Pam for dinner and presents! Then the fun will begin with those 3 little great granddaughters!!
