I attended the 2007 Magnuson Family Reunion in Boulder, Colorado held July 27-29. The weather was reported as being in the 90s the days before we arrived, thankfully we experienced 3 days of lovely low 80s temperatures with sunshine. So lovely that my mom and I spent the day exploring Boulder. Planned “just right,” Pam and Frank allowed for plenty of free time though I thoroughly enjoyed the together time as well.

I re-met King after last seeing him in the mid-70s in San Francisco. Since that time, he has taken on this mythic persona in my mind. If you had only the puzzle pieces King, San Francisco, mid-70’s and upstairs downtown apartment from a 100-piece puzzle how would you put it together? Add 32 years of arranging and re-arranging those pieces and what kind of memories would you have built?

A free soul, a hippie, dark smoky apartment, sitting on the floor, city sounds, King. Girlfriend? Wife? Not sure. I am sure I wanted to meet him once again. I wish I could have spent more time with you catching up, King – hopefully next time. Until then, I’m still putting the pieces together.

So, King, what do you have to say about that? You are being silent.
I do remember, well, in 1982 when Don,Joe, and I visited San Francisco King took the time to drive us around the city. He knew all the ins and outs of streets, where to go, etc. etc. and we really appreciated that. On that trip I think we were in Salinas, Oakland, and Santa Ana (to visit Don’s sister) and it was a great time. I have a picture of Lorraine and I on a trolley, and all of us in a restaurant in S.F.
