Wow! King and Patty, you look so glamorous! We always watch the Kentucky Derby on TV and we all choose horses and jump up and down as we cheer on our horses. It must be fun to actually be there, so if you go next year, let us all know and we’ll make a big reunion out of it! (I promise we won’t embarrass you by jumping up and down.)

I love your hat, Patty! Yours too, King, but you know, when your picture came up on the screen, I thought for a minute it was Grandad Magnuson! That must have been alot of fun and I’m glad you could go and enjoy it! Did everyone have as pretty a hat as you, Patty? Wow!

Cheering and jumping up & down are MUST activities on Derby Day.
Esp if you have a winner or two.

King, many of us have always thought that you, of all the offspring, looked most like G’dad Sam. I must say that I think your gentle ways were also his. AND, let me add that I think that is an incredibly wonderful picture. By all means, get it framed.

King, you are so sweet. Ok, it’s a deal. We’re going next year.

I will take all comparisons to Granddaddy (that’s what Pam & I called G’dad Sam) that I can get. Pam & I were lucky that both Grandparents lived in Central City. Allowed us to double up on the visits.
And, yes the picture has been framed.

Lorraine and I always had so much fun when we were kids! We always had a playhouse in the Grainary and also one in the grove. I think Vi and maybe Helen and Bonnie, took rakes to the grove and made trails through the trees. Then when Lorraine and I got older, it was the perfect place to hide when it came time to do the dishes! I think Bonnie let us get away with that a time or two but the last time I remember of, we came back to the house in time for supper and there were the dirty dinner dishes still there waiting for us! Don’t think we tried that again. We also did alot of gopher hunting with Paul which he wrote about in some of his writings.
